Plinko board

Date

December 2025

Project type

Woodworking

This plinko board is my take on the popular party game "plinko" where a puck is dropped down a board with a series of pegs and it lands in seperate areas at the bottom depending on luck/ probability and different areas may correspond to different prizes. I made this plinko board specifically for my schools sixth form charities week as one of the games, because of this i got to use the school as my client and they gave me input to which i modified my design to suit them. My design featured 4 areas with 1 winning prize , 1 go again and 2 loses. Because of this the game was highly successful and raised lots of money for the chosen charity. The plinko board was made of a large sheet of shower tile (Chipboard with a waterproof coating), bathroom skirting boards for the side and dowels bought specifically for this project. The dowels were bamboo and were 10mm in order to provide enough strength to not snap under weight of puck. When building the plinko board i used a drill many times to make holes for dowels and to attatch screws to hold together, i also used a wood saw to cut down materials to length as well as using sanpaper to round of sharp corners and edges to make it safe for lower school to use. The project was a great success because the school raised lots of money and i got experince of working with an actual client, the one problem i did have is i drilled a hole too big so in future i must make sure to double check before i drill/ saw.
