ESP32 Advent calendar

Date

November 2025

Project type

Cardboard and Electronics

The advent calendar is an electronical advent calendar which makes use of an ESP32 controller and a servo motor to release a chocolate when promtped by the user on their mobile phone. The whole project is powered by a usb-c port hidden behind the blue ribbon. I created the product so that i could have a more interesting advent calendar to open each day rather than a plain door one. This advent calendar contains round ball chocolates which roll down a ramp and wait behind the servo until it opens and releases one at a time. The advent calendar is made primarily of cardboard, however the exterior is coated in wrapping paper to give it a touch of festivity. To assemble the advent calendar i used mostly a craft knife and a hot glue gun to secure parts together as well as some tape for the wrapping paper. In summary, the project was mostly a success because it worked in testing but then unexpectedly stopped working part way through which i couldn't fix which highlights how in the future i need to make the code more maintainable.
