Driftwood inspired clock

Date

August 2025

Project type

Woodworking

The driftwood inspired clock is a modern wall clock which uses wood manipulated to appear as if it is driftwood to fit in with the beach/ocean theme of my bedroom. The clock mechanism was taken from a cheap clock that i had which was not aesthetically pleasing. The purpose of the project was to convert a non aesthetic clock into a visually appealing clock which matches into my room. The clock was made from balsa wood, the clock mechanism and some softwood rods used to connect the balsa wood planks and PLA casing for the clock mechanism. I made the product using hot glue to secure the rods to the planks and then used hot glue to mount the casing for mechanism into back of balsa plank. The other part of the casing including the hook stays on with friction to ensure a tight fit. Overall, the project helped me learn about clock mechanisms and also how to manipulate woods.
