Giant Pencil

The giant pencil is a decorative item for a bedroom which is designed to look like the classical STAEDTLER black and yellow pencil. The pencil was created purely as a decorative item with no clear function and was created as a novelty item. The giant pencil is made out of a piece of pine timber which was previously used as the leg of a stool, to create the giant pencil i made heavy use of my rasp by taking off the edges off each side and creating a pointed shape at the end. I also used sandpaper to thouroughly sand it to ensure that when painting i could get a smooth coat of paint on. To paint the stripes i took advantage of masking tape and sectioned off all the faces ensuring crisp stripes. In conclusion, the pencil was a success because it looks like a real pencil just way bigger and also helped me learn how to use a rasp effectively and how to mask off sections to create clean paint lines.
