Wire spool rack

Date

December 2025

Project type

Woodworking and 3D- printing

The wire spool rack is a modern looking holder to store my solder and wire spools neatly when doing electronics. It has a strong triangular structure making it strong and has thicker dowels in areas where strength is needed, effectively balancing strength and weight. I built the rack so i could store my wires neatly out of the way when i don't need them but also so that i could roll out the wires without having to take them off the rack (preventing wires accidentally falling on the floor). The rack was made with 3 dowels 2 of which had diamter 6mm and the one holding wires had diamter 10mm. The 3d printed components on the edge were made put of grey PLA to give off a modern feel and to contrast the brightly coloured wires. Assembly required minimal tools because the components were designed in such a way that they would have a push fit and remain tight without needing for screws, this would allow me to edit the order of wires later. Overall, i think the product is successful because it solves a real life problem and it also helps make electronics projects easier accelerating my design process.
