Micro cricket bats

Date

2022-2024

Project type

Woodworking

The cricket bats are very small cricket bats designed primarily to be used with one hand like a rounders bat and they have a length of about 30cm. They were custom made for friends at school who played "mini cricket" where they play a small game of cricket bat on the playground with a tennis ball. The small size of bat limited players abilities to hit the ball too far and have a possibility of damaging something, ideal for school. The micro cricket bats were made out of scrap pine found in my garage and were not an ideal material for a cricket bat however over their lifetime, they did not crack or warp. To make the bats i use mostly just sandpaper in various grits which led to very limited bat definition, a saw was also used in areas such as the handle to knock down material quickly. In summary, the bats were a success and led onto creating a much more proffessional cricket bat in the future and also created lasting memories of playing "mini cricket"
